Hi my name is Jodi, and sadly this is not my first blog but I am hoping that it is one that I actually keep up with! I am easily distracted and I am learning to follow through with things. Which might be why I am constantly changing things in my home. My husband says it is easier for him to change a wall colour or build me something than it is to pack up and move! We are on our 4th home in 11 years!
This little blog will be about myself, my family and what I want, wish or will do to my home. There may be the odd snide remark, sad story, pity me moment, joys of my children (I have two beautiful girls) the on going struggles of two rebellious and thick skull-ed dogs and the never ending changes to my home. I am making time for myself and have started painting again. I have always enjoyed painting and truth be told, a lot of the scents that come along with painting, brings back happy memories. My grandmother painted in her basement, and I remember thinking how bad it smelled down there. The oil paints, the varnish, the turpentine, the smell of the canvas and the overwhelming feeling of dampness because there was always a jar of water on the table or multiple paintings on the go. Now as my office/basement area takes on those familiar smells, memories and lessons come flooding back.
I have done many d.i.y’s to my home and I am never content or finished with a project. It can always be better! (much to my husbands chagrin!)
I love sharing my before and afters to friends and family via facebook and small tours of my home. How I have incorporated my own art and others into my home. How to decorate around or with that special piece. My grandmother painted landscapes, myself, I prefer a more abstract, full of texture and colour piece. In my own home I have oil paintings that were my grandmothers, painted glass and ceramics that my mother did, antique needle-point, my daughters class art and hand-prints, and of course, my own mix of art. With that being said, I believe that it is time to share all of this with a larger audience.
You will see my use of bold colours yet I equally enjoy the calm and serenity of a grey or white. What can I say, I am a Gemini!
Hope you enjoy this little blog of mine!
P.S. I make a wicked awesome potato soup and Guinness stout cake too!
