Welcome to 13 and 1! Officially now it seems. The exterior is all painted and the flower boxes have been reinstalled and filled. I have added quiet an assortment of beautiful blooms all from Baltimore Valley. Oh! and now my deliveries and customers now know that indeed we are 13 Main St!!! There were a couple of times that I had to chase down the UPS guy or explain to someone, it's the purple store (formerly Eclectic Mix) A huge thank you to Schelle at The Holmestead in Campbellford for the signs and this picture of the store. ![]() If you are wondering what the flowers are: left to right "Sweet Caroline Light Green" sweet potato vine, "Mystic Illusion" dahlia hybrid, "Early Yellow" named, white impatiens, "Pink Lady" geraniums, "Ice Cream Mango" celosia, "Blacky" sweet potato vine and "Dark Blue" lucia.

New location, new path, new vibe, calls for a new logo!
I'm embracing the purple and the simplicity. Good-bye to the green and HELLO to PURPLE!
Now added to the "honey-do" list is the front stoop. I didn't like the green exterior carpet, so Gary pulled it up. What I first thought of was a big mistake.... we found a beautiful old stamped metal "mat" under all the adhesive and parging. Now my poor husband will be scraping and chiseling the details back to life. Then finishing it a rust proof paint. I'm pretty sure he is having a blast on his vacation! ;) Its time to change things up and make it our own. Good bye to the multi coloured walls that have served their time. Along with the carpet too. Luckily they were carpet tiles and they came up very easy. Underneath was a very old vinyl flooring. The tiles have seen their heyday a long time ago. There is paint stains, worn patches, rusty spots from where equipment once stood and outline from where walls were when this building used to be a post office. Only real problem was at the front door. As soon as you step in, it was plywood. I didn't know what to do there. Do we find tile to fill in the void? Do I just paint the wood?
I will have to come back to that. He left me alone at the flea market. I bought three vintage green enameled lights. Only one had the wiring still intact, the rest he had to get creative with. I am so lucky that he loves me, like a lot!
There's so much work to do that it is daunting. What did I jump into? What was I thinking? Where do we begin? Well, we began on Monday (happy birthday to me) and we started with cleaning, wall prepping and painting the walls an off white. Gary just started to move to the exterior to get some paint on before the rain comes.... again. I feel like this might be a theme for our outdoor changes. The weather is in completely opposite to last year. Last year we were in the pools, soaking up the glorious sunshine and enjoying warm nights at the fire. This year... it's rainy, gloomy and we lost our pool to flooding. On ward and upward as they say. I don't have any time to really sit back and let the thought of no inground pool to sink in yet. ![]() You heard that right, 13 and 1 is leaving the market at Meyersburg.
My last day there will be June 25th. I would like to thank everyone who came out and supported me there. It was completely appreciated and I love you all for it. But..... not to worry, I am still reaching for the stars. 13 and 1 is moving to 13 MAIN ST in Warkworth!!! I picked up the key on June 9th and the work will begin on Monday. I am very fortunate to have my husband on vacation so I can put him to work. :) So stay tuned for more exciting posts!! |
