It was bound to happen. My little girl has become a little lady!
Today we celebrate her grade 8 graduation!
She started the day with long hair. Everything was hush hush. She didn't want to tell any of her friends about her plans for her hair. Which is very difficult for a bunch of teenagers who were talking about hair, nails, dresses, shoes, etc, for months. At lunch when class was let out, he went and had lunch with some friends and walked to the salon for her hair appointment in town. Surprise! She had over a foot of hair cut off. One side of her hair was shaved with a pattern! What a brave, kind and generous girl she is. All hair was donated to Locks of Love!
Once a year, the residents of Warkworth and surrounding area, come together to enjoy the Donnybrook Auction!
It is Northumberland’s largest reduce, reuse, and recycle event ! There was 10 Auctioneers selling antiques, collectibles, furniture, household goods, appliances, and hardware. Earlier in the day, there was a fill a box for $3 event in one of the barns.
In early June, we received a note in the mail asking for any donations to be put at the curb for pick up. These would be sorted and put up for the auction. Unfortunately, I forgot all about the donations, but I made sure to mark the date on the calendar.
Macki had a friend sleep over, so she came along with us to the fill a box for $3 event!
After dinner, Chyler and I headed back into town to attend the auction. Macki and her friend stayed home... hot arenas and smelly, sweaty people, no guarantee of actually getting what you want, um no thanks mom. Obviously, not my child!
Chyler and myself, did a quick walk through to see if there was anything good. We settled on the back corner where a lot of antiques were.
In a matter of just over an hour, I spent almost all of my money and had a truck full of treasures.
I cannot wait to attend next year!
P.S. Stay tuned for exciting news for Brickley 13&1
It's amazing how changing your focus can change your view!
Both pictures are equally beautiful. Both pictures are of the same view. Both pictures show a different perspective of the view.
The same can be said about life.
What I see or experience can and will be felt differently to someone else.
Does this make someone stronger? Does this in turn make someone else weak? I do not know. What I do know, is that even with everything that has been thrown at me in life, it has shaped who I have become, opened my eyes to many different ideas, and allowed me to continue forward living. Yes times do suck, but further more, times are beautiful, wonderful, amazing, head rushingly awesome.
I get to wake up to two girls who I adore, a husband I love deeply, I live in a home I never thought I would have, views for miles and friends and family that love me.
Yes my girls fight and drive me crazy, my husband is always travelling for work, my home comes at a price and I work to pay for it. Those views which are unobstructed with trees, well, that means the house on the hill receives no wind break and if an item is not super heavy or tied down, I'm hunting for it in a farmers field.
There is always two sides. It just depends on which side you choose to focus on.
Woke up to have a coffee on our side deck with G, and this little guy came for a visit. What a pretty Polyphemus Moth! It was a nice little birthday surprise. I saved him from Jake and Ellie and eventually he flew away.
My gift from my family for my birthday..... a veggie garden!
I can almost taste the tomatoes and beans!
Cannot wait to share the pictures from it growing and to the harvest!
14 years of marriage!
Where has the time gone. Some days it seems like only yesterday that we walked down the aisle and said our vows. Other days it feels like an eternity! To my one and only, I love you, cherish you and I am enjoying every moment getting old with you. Our family has grown from just a cat, to two dogs, two daughters and a cat. In between that we have owned 5 houses, 9 vehicles, numerous cell phone upgrades, dug up, planted, replanted many gardens, painted a vast amount of walls, wallpapered a few too, moved furniture from one room, to a different floor, to a different home, to picking up great finds on kijiji and always going along for the ride. Thank you! You crazy s.o.b! hahahahaha
In the past 13 years we have had a bit of struggles and many highs in our marriage. Good news is that the good times always out number the bad. Not a day has gone by that we do not talk to each other, and there has been many days that we are apart.
Laughter is truly the best medicine that you can have. We laugh all the time. This is what our marriage is based on, what our family grows from and what we will have for this lifetime.
LOVE & LAUGHTER
Now how does a picture of Tim Horton's tie into our anniversary? Well, 13 years ago my very soon to be father-in-law went to the local Tim Horton's in Oshawa and bought everyone who was at my house preparing for the day breakfast. Each year since, we have always had Tim Horton's. Some years it's miles apart and others it breakfast, after school treats or an outing for dinner. This year with school and work schedules, we ended up having dinner in town. Another addition to our wonderful memories.
