Short of the Kitchen, this has to be the most used room of our whole house, aka THE LIVING ROOM!!
This room presented so many issues! A wall of windows, a large opening to the dining room and a doorway to the foyer! I know.... wah....
But when you move into a house with a very large sectional that takes up the whole room, furniture placement is very limited.
We lived with the sectional for a couple of years then we decided to purchase on-line a more formal sofa and two arm chairs. Needless to say, they lasted another 2 years in our home before they found another one to live in. They were wonderful, but large and limited our placement and colour choices even more than the large sectional!
This spring we decided that it was time to buy proper furniture that will suit our needs and our style. It's amazing how your personal style can evolve over time.
Buying new sofas turned into in art work for the wall and my husband building a coffee table for his more masculine living room!
The large sign was just tacked up in the entrance to the antique barn. We went to go look at a vintage Coca Cola sign and we stopped dead in our tracks and we both agreed this was the one. It is from Campbell's Dairy in Peterborough. My family's history is in the dairy business and my husband is from Peterborough... meant to be!
The next artifact is an old whistle post from the rail way. I had no idea what it was, but my railroading husband sure did and we walked around 2 barns holding that sign.
Lastly is an old distressed wooden game board to finish off the trio of "artifacts as art".
Here is the living room all ready for her close up for MLS.
I cannot wait to start decorating our new home!! That's right, WE BOUGHT A NEW HOME!!
**told you this house will be sold before I finished these posts!!**
